How can we not pay tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, a truly unique monarch of modern history. Perhaps a leader we'll never see the likes of again.
Unlike our ancestors in France, who decided to abolish the monarchy, the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth celebrate and defend their monarchy with pride.
It is the image of the greatness of a country and it's influence abroad. It is fascinating to see that the whole world has felt the need to devote not one day, but almost a fortnight paying respects to Her Majesty from when the news went public until the funeral.
People of all nationalities, ethnicities and religions gathered together from all around the world to mourn a woman who marked history.
What an inspirational role model, one who confidently proclaimed her Faith in Jesus Christ, who planned for her funeral not only as a thanksgiving and memorial ceremony but a real worship, a real moment of sharing the Gospel before the whole world.
We rejoice that the Lord has been proclaimed so internationally. The event is emotional on a human level, especially for those who think we've only turned a page in history. But above all, it's a worldwide event that served as an international stage for our Lord Jesus Christ.
When again will we have the opportunity to witness such an event proclaiming the Gospel so publicly? Here in France, the service was broadcast live on Monday the 19th of September on no less than 10 channels. In England, the crowd gathered in the streets of London sang the hymns to the glory of our Lord and recited the prayers that resounded in Westminster Cathedral.
Through this event the Lord sent us a message, a chance to get to know him and reconnect with our faith. At the same time, several rainbows appeared in the capital, a sign from the Lord to tell us “I am with you”.
We therefore want to pray for France; that God can shine through our country with a thousand lights like the jewels of a crown, and that this Christian awakening can occur in Kingdoms across the world. We can confidently proclaim that the Lord is our King, that he is the King of kings and that he reigns over all nations.
Today we can finally say, God Saved the Queen!
